Good writing, with a strong point and with life oozing out.

before you were born

I wondered if you would live

imagining that if you didn’t

I would get a tattoo

something to remember you by

a painful, permanent experience

to chronicle the same

mark it

on my flesh

to my grave

once you were born

I never thought about you dying

so was completely, utterly

shocked and empty

when you left

now I know

I don’t need a tattoo

you are ever, always with me

inside, about, and before

ingrained in my face

when people ask the friendly question

“So, all girls?”

I smile back, slightly surprised

isn’t it obvious?

I have a son.

Yes, it is so obvious! He is the most amazing son! xo

  2. So during one of the presentations, while Paul was sketching, Mike Stavlund sent out the tweet at the top of this post.
