Good writing, with a strong point and with life oozing out.

C21 Poems, Part 3

October 10, 2009

(inspired by Danielle Shroyer and Makeesha, respectively)

Lady Church

If she’s not careful
she’ll imagine that she’s sitting still
a belly sated with lunch
slightly sleepy
waiting for the next thing to happen
(and demurely releasing the tiniest burp)

utterly forgetful
ignorant of inertia
of cosmic forces
promises clad in iron
bound to be kept
outward bound
and moving, always moving
away from the darkness
hurtling toward the dawn

To the Mountain

he walks the lonely road
of doubt
eyes down, shuffling along
shoulders pulled to earth

never noticing
the throngs of people
behind, beside, before
eyes down, shuffling along
all moving en masse
down the road
toward faith
