Good writing, with a strong point and with life oozing out.

Middle-Aged Dad

April 21, 2009

(with props to Craig Burnett’s classic ‘Middle Aged Man’)

Hey, Middle-Aged Dad
with tousled hair, Moleskine,
rings of bling and smirky snark

bombing down the road
in your shiny, black, German
…station wagon

eye on the clock, making good time
for two hours
then stopping for 50 minutes

to talk to pine cones
play music on sticks
run circles in the grass

two steps forward
one step back
landslide of diminishing returns

you’re going nowhere
Middle-Aged Dad
