It might just be for one day, but for some unexplainable reason, The Child Who Talks has mostly laid off the screaming and acting out for the day, and The New Child has decided to take several long naps (as the owner’s manual suggested she would). Which means temporary sanity for The Wife and I. Plus leisurely showers, a modicum of productivity, sensible meals made at the appropriate hours, dishes washed and put away, a floor swept clean of food, and a cleared path for walking through the apartment. And best of all: a simultaneous afternoon nap for all four of us.
Of course, there is still the distinct chance that the crying will begin at 12:01. But that outcome will be easier to absorb with the day we’ve had.
