After too long away, I enjoyed another visit to Holy Grounds tonight. I was there to catch up with some friends and to hear from Super-Pastor Jan about what is clearly one of her gifts– grief counseling– in the context of the Bible story of Job. I was also getting the lay of the land in preparation for next week, when I’ll be sharing some of my experience of grief and the push/pull of community as they continue in their Lenten series of meetings focusing on the difficult parts of life. I’ll have some comments, lead some discussion, and I’ll be reading through some of the writing that I did during the first year after my son Will died. And, considering how difficult and dark it might be, I’m nevertheless looking forward to sharing some of my story with my friends there.
