Our growing girl was the recent recipient of jeans handed down from fashion mogul Sophie and her thrifty mother. They have a tiny hole mid-thigh: small enough to be modest, but large enough to permit a small breeze on a windy day.
The other day, she took note of the hole as I was strapping her into her carseat. Trying to change the subject, I told her it wasn’t a “hole” exactly, and– invoking a little Letterman for my own amusement– I said, “That’s the way the kids are wearing them these days.”
Later, as we were returning home from our errand, she pointed to her pants and confidently informed her mother that, “It’s not broken, Mommy, it’s what kids do!”
