Cobalt Season Podcast

April 5, 2008

I’m so grateful that David Robertson (the creative force behind the Emergent Village Podcast) gave me a crack at interviewing Ryan Sharp of The Cobalt Season. The result is here (it’s on iTunes, too). For a freshman effort, I’m fairly happy with it (thanks to Ryan editing out a bunch of my blabbering). Listening now, it sounds a bit Stuart Smalley. Though in my defense, this is because it was also a bit Barbara Walters– to my surprise, my line of questioning welled up a few tears in my victim, and so I felt the need to offer some comfort. Such is the curse of a Psych Minor.

Good conversation. It was nice to hear someone else say that they vacillate between being cynical and hopeful and that maybe they are two sides to the same coin. HOPEfully that means I am not crazy, but I probably am.

Hey boys — This was great; two of my favorite philosophers! Can we look forward to more Stavlund podcasts?

And I’m just spit-balling here, but by any chance was that the sweet tube-driven hum of a Fender Vibro Champ XD at the end? Just a stab in the dark.

Great job Mike–I listened on the way home tonight. You asked some good questions, and did a great job of just letting Ryan go…interviewers often move on to the next question too quickly–you sometimes get the best stuff by just being quiet and listening and letting the other guy keep going.
