Good writing, with a strong point and with life oozing out.

HT: Common Table

October 12, 2007

It was deliciously indulgent to be a thousand miles from home, soaking up major props from good friends (who are strikingly innovative leaders of Christian communities) about the church of which we’re a part. What was even better was knowing that, without my engagement or presence or even email input, great stuff was happening while we were away: an Iftar for a Muslim family with whom our church has partnered, and a great Sunday gathering where a guest who is a member of AA was sharing about the origins and nature of that community, and the blessing it has been to her. Plus all of the other conversation and collaboration and friendship that make up the heart of who we are. Oh, sure, we’re a little dysfunctional, but we’re a family that I love.
