I’m over it, I think. No more headaches, no more grinding of gears in the morning, and no more slothful moodiness throughout the day. Just to commemorate the breakthrough, I did a ceremonial cleansing of the press pot and grinder and reverently placed them in the cabinet. I am caffeine-free and the world is my oyster.
Now that the first hurdle of the cleansing diet has been crossed, I will probably take greater notice of my longings for sugars, refined flours, lactose comforts, alcohol, and peanuts (they, like coffee, are moldy, which is why they are ‘out’). And during Week 2, we’ll cut out fruit and meat. But hey, I fed my daughter a whole piece of birthday cake today, and didn’t even take a nibble. How hard can it be?
