We cracked a couple of Bill McKibben beers today and put my theology up on the lift at Gospel Matt‘s for a little tuneup. The machine has been taking in some high octane fuel while working in some fairly inhospitable conditions, and Matt seems to have a keen eye for the road ahead, and a keen ear for trouble under the hood. I’ve known him forever, and find that most of my theological explorations wind up in areas that he’s already been talking about for years.
He took a look under the hood and kicked the tires and pronounced things healthy and reasonably orthodox. Oh, and he recommended one book that’s been sitting unread on my shelf for ten years, and another that he’s been talking about for at least five. One of these days, I’ll just submit to his wisdom and ask for a reading list for my life. Call it preventive maintenance.
