Heard through the open window on a balmy, 70 degree evening:
The calming sounds of a nearly perfect rendition of Randy Travis’ classic “Forever and Ever Amen“, and the gentle, deep breathing of a placid child. Followed by a distinct ‘thunk’ as said child’s head was introduced to the side of the crib.
What can I say? I was working left-handed, and the little sack of potatoes shifted in my arms. The crying only lasted for a few seconds.

Similar “thunk” has been heard at Park Place a few times
A baby’s first “fall” is also traumatic! I’ll never forget bringing Tricia home from an outing, and placing her “infant seat”* on a living room chair. When I turned back around from removing my coat, she was on the floor! I felt like an abusive parent! Fortunaately, Illinois weather required thick outerwear, and Tricia was uninjured. Her mother was scared for life. Congrats on being a loving parent! xoxoxoxox Nana * A lightweight plastic chair with an adjustible wire support to allow for reclining or upright seat ing.
