At 8 am today, with the first cup of a fresh shipment of Major Dickason’s in me, and upon Ella’s gleeful reception of her second breakfast course, we composed a song together:
Pears
Pears
I really like pears
I pop ‘em like flares
Into my mouth
Where they light up the night
(repeat)
Bridge:
E-ella-nor-a
How I adore ya’
Because you are so cute and sweet…
E-ella-nora
Oh, I adore ya’
Because you are so cute and sweet
…like pears
(back to chorus)
Well, it’s more like a work in progress: I guess we need some verses, and a hook or something. The tune is kind of Radiohead meets folk meets Ashley Simpson meets the staccato North African work of latter-day Robert Plant. It’s by no means as catchy as Ella’s Mama’s ‘Avocado (How I Love You)’, but it has some potential, I think.

That’s *wonderful*, Mike. I’ll pay good money for the CD!
Bless you for introducing me to Peet’s Coffee…truly the best brew I’ve ever tasted.
My dad sang to me when I was a kid…even into high school–ha. I loved every minute of it!
You really must sing that for us in person sometime.
Son:
I’m certain “the daughter” loves your singimg while endulging in smashed pears and cereal but stick to your writing–OKAY? It will have a far greater readership!
Love
Dad
