In my observation of Lent this year, I’ve made the painful decision to deprive myself of the daily dose of two of my very favorite blogs. Lisa is a luminous writer, an awe-inspiring mother, and faraway friend, and her husband Will has literally and metaphorically defined ‘blogger’ for me– he was the very first person to tell me about a ‘blog’, and his was the very first one I read.
But Lent calls for sacrifice, so I hereby pledge to not read either of them for the next forty days. As God gives me strength.

At first I thought, “I don’t think that counts. It feels like he’s saying ‘I’m not going to call my best friend for Lent because that will be a sacrifice’, and I mulled that over for a minute. Then I followed the links….
Fell for that one, didn’t I? Nice one.
You’re really taking one for the team there, Mike …
