Good writing, with a strong point and with life oozing out.

Running and Recovering

November 27, 2006

To Columbia Pike, and back again. Without walking*. Negative split, too.

*my rate of speed during the especially hilly sections was about the same as if I were walking. But my hands were up by my chest, so it is considered ‘running’. It’s the principle, see?

For those of us who have no clue … What is this negative split you speak of?

  4. I can’t wait, boys. Gonna be a good day.

Kate, a ‘negative split’ is where a runner does the second half of a particular distance in less time than the first. Which, in this case is no big deal, since it is a net uphill to Columbia Pike from my house, and therefore a net downhill on the way home. But still.
