Good writing, with a strong point and with life oozing out.

A Day Without Mom

November 1, 2006

The Wife returned to the workforce today, which couldn’t have been easy for her. Moreover, it meant that poor Ella was stuck with her father all day.

It went well, though. The Girl rocked the bottle (and the cereal and the bananas) all day long, and was pretty happy, too. Neither one of us did much napping or sleeping, which is cause for some concern. And she exhibited some apoplectic upstarts during the time it takes to, say, move a bottle from the countertop to her mouth. But there were moments of pure joy, such as the occasions when we’d simultaneously catch each other’s eye across the room, and both begin laughing.

Good luck to yet another transition in the world of children! I hope it isn’t too hard to get back into the work world Stacy!

How did it go for Stacy? It usually feels much more tramatic to the mom (or dad) when it’s time to enter the work force outside the home. (((hugs for Stacy)))
