Good writing, with a strong point and with life oozing out.

Bright Spot

August 16, 2006

I recently discovered something that can ruin my normally staid composure, get my frowny face plenty goofy, and raise my manly voice more than a couple of octaves: a smile from either one of the kids. I’ll be at the end of my rope with Ella, frustrated about some sleep-deprived experience, and she’ll flash a bright, toothless grin my way– offense utterly forgotten. And Will is getting into the act, too. Sitting down to the grim work of giving him a bottle, he’ll brighten his eyes and shoot me a big smile– the bottle grows cold while I find my falsetto to pry another one out of him.

I know I have said it before BUT there is nothing as rewarding as your children’s smile or words like “Daddy’s home!”

Life as parents is ONLY beginning for the both of you GOD’S continued BLESSINGS!

    love,

    Dad!
