Good writing, with a strong point and with life oozing out.

Why We Miss Nana

July 17, 2006

She changes diapers without fear, and without a net: right there on her lap.

She can swing, sway, bob, bounce, dip, and sing simultaneously.

She rocks and rolls the stroller constantly, whether or not there’s a baby in it.

She has low expectations of new fathers (which I can generally exceed!).

She is a relentless encourager.

She doesn’t miss a beat, medically speaking.

She’s an expert computer operator.

She doesn’t require sleep.

She eats everything– even couscous, quinoa, and hommous.

She rarely notices when you pinch one of her Diet Dr. Peppers (which are everywhere).

She lets me drive her sweet ride.

She’s never met a hurricane that scared her, including Hurricanes William and Eleanor.

She befriends everyone.

She loves us, and she loves our kids.
