Well, it’s been seven weeks since Black Friday, and we had yet another ultrasound today. I’m working on a theory that the product which comes out of health care is not healing, but waiting. You wait to register, then wait in several successively smaller ‘waiting areas’, then wait in the room where whatever is supposed to happen to you, happens. When they’re done doing it to you, you leave so that you can wait for your next visit.
But sometimes, good things come when we wait. The kids seem to be doing alright, with arms, legs, stomachs, kidneys, spines, feet in all the right places. The presenting twin needs another look on Tuesday; they weren’t able to visualize the umbilical cord or the heart clearly, which seemed to be cause for some concern. The placenta previa continues, though the cervix is long and closed. And the separation of the amnion and chorion continues. So the wife’s hopeful return to work may be less than imminent.
But the big news today is that the modest baby is, in fact, a girl! So we’ve got one of each on the way. Hooray!! A daughter, and a son. I’m speechless.

Yay! It will be so much fun! I’m so excited to meet them. Congratulations.
I cannot wait to meet them as well. Need live-in nannies in DC?
Hmmm … must be something about those girls. Lightgirl was quite modest in utero as well and would not reveal herself at all until the day of her birth. LightBoy (on the other hand), let us know right up front … if you know what I mean.
Pleased as punch …
can anyone explain why I get tears in my eyes every single time I read about your babies? kiss and hug your wife for me.
the house is asleep and sweet tears run down my cheeks. Thanks for the update and confirmation for my shopping habit.
We love your kids.
Hmmmm… (as in a very satisfying thing) we keep you four held closely to our hearts and in our prayers as well!
