Good writing, with a strong point and with life oozing out.

Moving Forward

January 14, 2006

The streets were deserted as the Redskins and Seahawks clashed– a perfect opportunity for a run. The cold air burned my throat and the snow flurries pelted my legs while I battled the memories of who I used to be to complete a less-than-heroic 16 minute run. I need to stop running in the past and start running toward the future.

Could it be that we need a clearer picture of who are are/were, in order to attain a clear picture of who we will/want to be? I find the idealized, exagerated version of me is not very acurate, and creates quite the obstacle to overcome. Maybe it’s safe to say that we are never as bad or as good as our perceptions of ourselves. Which leads me to ask if we should reevaluate what our future selves should look like after all?

    Take care, my friend.

You were RUNNING in that weather?
I’m shivering, just remembering it. And the wind… I half-expected to wake the next morning and find myself in Oz.
