Good writing, with a strong point and with life oozing out.

More Waiting

December 21, 2005

We’re still waiting for some resolution to our pregnancy worries. The kids appear to be doing wonderfully: growing ahead of schedule, hearts a-beating and legs a-kicking. But the wife’s symptoms haven’t yet resolved, and so our Doc has her laying low on a kind of modified bedrest. We’re settling in to a routine of waiting a couple of weeks for the next sonogram, followed by a short wait for another doctor’s office visit, followed by another couple of weeks of waiting.

She’s getting a little stir-crazy, and we’re both a bit worried about the short-term prospects here. She’s on leave from work, but at some point in the foreseeable future, her job may no longer be held for her. So we’re hoping and praying for a reprieve of the health issues, or at least some positive outcome in the slim prospect of a desk job at the hospital. In the meantime, the great news is that we’re living expense-free (no rent, cable, internet, utilities, etc.) in a sweet Craigslist find. A little handyman work for some very kind folks gives us a place to stay and a chance to save up some cash for the coming months. And they are happy to have us stay even with two kids for as long as we can take it (it’s a fairly small place…). So I’m very grateful for this blessing.

In the meantime, our Doctor has given us clearance to travel to visit the wife’s family for Christmas. It’s a 9 hour trip, which we will divide up into two halves (which is a small test of our patience…). But it will give us a change of scenery, and a chance to be with family, and a long-awaited opportunity for me to put in some substantial time here.

How lovely! I’m so glad you get to have some family time. We’re still on our knees on Stacy’s behalf. (tell her not to get on her knees herself. God will understand.)
And, thanks for the update. It’s nice to know what to ask for.
