Good writing, with a strong point and with life oozing out.

Drive-By Hospitality

August 20, 2005

The Linus’ have been inviting us over to their great place for weeks, and tonight was finally the night to hang out. So we scooted out there and had just picked up some food when the phone rang. The wife was being called in to work, and we were about thirty miles out. So we grabbed a very quick bite, said hello and goodbye, and raced off. The worst part was that little Miss Lizzard and I were having a breakthrough. When she was a baby, we were fast friends. Lately, not so much. But tonight, after several months of shy standoff, she was smiling and making eyes at me, and the two of us were acting ‘silly’. But then we jumped up from the table, and she was left asking, “why are they leaving?”.

Sorry, guys. And thanks for the hospitality.

Many tears were shed on your behalf after your departure. Awwwww.
But y’know, usually when you’re around, you’re competing with Prince Valiant (who also goes by the moniker ‘Ethan’). So, what’s a cool guy to do…
