Good writing, with a strong point and with life oozing out.

Big Blue

July 13, 2005

Gospel Matt gifted me with a new member of the tool family. This sweet saber saw is the gold standard, and I love it. Sure, I could do almost as well with a budget Craftsman model, and that’s what I would have bought myself eventually. But my man Matt knows me well, and so I guess he decided to show his appreciation for my work with a very generous present.

My new baby purrs like a sewing machine, and made today’s various carpentry projects a more pure form of joy. There is just something irreplaceable about a well-balanced, well-engineered tool. Lovely.

Mike, stop making me look bad. You and your masculine tools. I don’t even know what a saber saw is. I know what a lightsaber is, are they similar? What about saber-tooth tigers? Where do they fit in? Freakin’ carpenter. “Ooooh, look at me I do the same thing as Jesus.”

Personally, I assumed “big blue” referred to the generous application of blue tape whenever possible.
