Phyllis Tickle is a master storyteller in the ancient style of the oral tradition.
Each evening, her doting husband helps her walk up the three steps to the stage. She walks somewhat uneasily to center stage. Once there, she takes a deep breath and throws down, launching into powerful tales from the Scriptures. No notes, all passion, straight from the heart.
And then when she’s finished, she blesses us all in our work and makes a few spare points of application. “I’m old enough to say what I want and not have anyone stop me.”
And her husband helps her down.
